Enhancing efficiency of productive formation exposing in producing oil wells by means of hydraulic jet perforating

The objective of hydraulic jet perforating (HJP) is creation of channels in the casing string, cement stone and rock using abrasive slurry (mixture of water with polymeric compound additives and silica sand (0.6 – 1.2 mm grain size; water solution of 50-100 g/l concentration) that is injected into the well under pressure at very high speed coming up to several hundred meters per second. 


In the process of HJP the slurry is injected through tubing string into the hydraulic jet perforator accelerating in its nozzles (4.5 – 6.0 mm in diameter). The perforator is fixed to the tubing string and run into the well to the targeted depth. 


The slurry jetting out of perforator nozzles destroys the casing pipe, cement  stone and rock within the targeted zone. The pyriform cavity (channel) with its narrow cone adjoining the perforated hole in the casing string is washed out in the rock. The formed channels connect the well bore with the productive formation. The channels are generally 0.75 – 1.5 m. long.

The basic materials for HJP are operating fluid and sand. Operating fluids for HJP are selected taking into account the physical-chemical properties of the formation and rock saturating fluids as well as type of well intervention works. Special equipment on surface: wellhead fittings, pumping and sand-blender units etc. 


Unlike other types of perforating (gun or shaped charge perforating) the HJP causes no damages to casing string and cement stone beyond the perforated zone.

Moreover, the HJP increases permeability of productive formation zones that was reduced during the well drilling or killing and also serves as crack initiator before conducting the hydraulic fracturing or acid treatment.


.Operation results on oil fields in Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, China, Cuba, Poland, Russia, Syria, Turkmenistan and Ukraine have shown that after the Company’s technologies application the oil production increases from 2 to 5 times and even more. After well workover the duration of well’s operation at increased level of yield is from 6 months to 2 years.
