The experience of wells operation shows that the main reasons for withdrawal of wells from the producing well stock are production rate decrease;  wrecking, crushing or other failures of the production string; impossibility to clean up the perforated zone from extraneous particles and objects; complex breakage of underground equipment, drowning.

In all the cases mentioned above there is significant amount of hydrocarbons to be yielded in productive formation so it is reasonable to bore a sidehole to recover them.

The technology of sidetracking through the “window” cut in the casing string allows to regain the productivity even of those wells which cannot be worked over in another way or it is economically unprofitable.

One of the main conditions for the effective sidetracking is a proper choice of the well. Choosing wells for sidetracking one should take into account the following:

  • the productive formation to which the sidehole is planned to be bored shall have strata with commercial oil reserves;
  • expected well production rate shall provide forecast recovery for a specified period;
  • it is necessary to choose the well that has not only one particular target formation exposed in compliance with the initial drilling project but also some other formations which are available and can be exposed later on to ensure extended term of well’s operation.

In order to carry out works in compliance with the technology the Company operates XJ 550 and XJ 650 mobile workover rigs.

.Operation results on oil fields in Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, China, Cuba, Poland, Russia, Syria, Turkmenistan and Ukraine have shown that after the Company’s technologies application the oil production increases from 2 to 5 times and even more. After well workover the duration of well’s operation at increased level of yield is from 6 months to 2 years.
